M Cut Watch

The ultimate watchmaking expression of the House of Mellerio, the M Cut collection unveils its new models that adopt a self-winding mechanical movement, housed in refined cases in yellow gold paved with diamonds. Elegant and discreet timepieces, combining aesthetic refinement and high standards of craftsmanship.

Mellerio and time

The ultimate watchmaking expression of the House, the M Cut collection features precious cases in yellow gold, white gold or steel, with a diameter of 36.95 x 30 mm that fits all wrists, whether feminine or masculine. The open back reveals a mechanical movement: this ETA 2000 caliber features leaf shaped hour and minute hands, while the curved dial features a date window at 3 o’clock. The notched crown, firmly at tached to the ovoid case, allows for water resistance to a depth of 30 meters. Reconciling the elegance of a refined shape with the technical demands of a caliber powered by a self-winding module, the new Mellerio timepieces are fitted with calfskin or alligator leather straps closed with a pin buckle reproducing the emblematic oval of the Mellerio Cut.

The M Cut Watch is a precipitate of history. Its elegant lines, characterized by the ovoid curves of its case, have embodied, without ostentation or logo, the quintessence of Mellerio watchmaking during the 20th century. Immediately recognizable, this singular shape, expressed by an oval inscribed in an ellipse, translates first of all the universality of a taste that has drawn from all the major currents of the decorative arts since the 17th century. It also evokes the origin of a House born in 1613, thanks to the ties woven between an Italian family settled in Paris since the 16th century and the Sovereign Marie de Medici who granted the Mellerios, by royal decree, the privileges allowing them to lay the foundations of their future dynasty. This original act gave birth to the famous Mellerio cut: its silhouette reproduces the shape of the Beau Sancy, the mythical diamond of the Queen of France. Its emblematic profile stands out brilliantly in the Parisian jeweler’s iconic creations, notably the legendary Peacock Feather brooch designed for Empress Eugenie in 1868; its discreet elegance shines through in the O de Mellerio. And finally, its mystery, which seems ready to square the circle while crystallizing the quintessence of the world’s oldest jewelry house, animates the new mechanical expressions of the M Cut watch.
